Taking as a basis the key concept of Wagnerian aesthetics Gesamtkunstwerk (in Russian translation - "a completely single work of art"), Boris Groys radically changes the point of view on the artistic avant-garde of the twentieth century and its attitude to the so-called "totalitarian aesthetics." Groysovsky "Stalin" acts as a metaphor not for overcoming, but for completing the avant-garde project, its "denial of denial," that is, in fact, it is a statement of the main pathos of the avant-garde - the revolutionary reconstruction not so much of the form of the work as of the viewer himself.
