The quintessence of the book is expressed by the author in several lines: "As a regular phenomenon, the service of Jews in the Russian army began only a decade and a half after World War II, when the personal decree of August 26, 1827 extended to them the serving of recruitment duty in kind. Thus, the participation of Russian Jews in the events of 1812 only in isolated cases could take place on the battlefield itself; in the form of a general rule, it, of course, could mainly be expressed in various services of the Russian army.
