Exhibition "Life-giving Tree. Russian wooden sculpture from ancient times to the 20th century took place in the halls of the Capitoline Museums in Rome and Vicenza. It presented precious liturgical exhibits from the Russian Museum (St. Petersburg), as well as interesting household items from the State Historical Museum (Moscow). The exhibition is unique in every sense. First of all, because invaluable works have come down to us from fragile and more other time-sensitive material - wood. And the highest quality of works did not leave anyone indifferent, and now readers can experience the full depth of feelings. On all continents from the oldest stages of human history, the processing of wood revealed symbolic meanings embodied in pre-educational forms. This exhibition provides an opportunity to capture what unites and what distinguishes between artistic trends that inspire both the Western world and the Christian East.
