The purpose of the work is the reconstruction and comparative study of weapons systems of Chernyakhov and Kyiv cultures in their dynamics, reflecting the nature of society in weapons systems, identifying the origin of categories and types of weapons, the direction of cultural influences, and determining the relative chronology of individual elements of the weapons complex. Based on the available data (archaeological and written sources), it is planned to characterize the stages of development of various aspects of the military affairs of the local population - weapons, military structure, tactics, consider the role of weapons in barbaric societies at different stages of their history.
