The first edition was published in 1965. In comparison with it, the second edition was significantly revised and supplemented by the results of recent work in the field of metallurgy and heat treatment of spring steels and alloys. New sections have been introduced in which high-strength spring steels, martensitic-aging steels, as well as a large group of alloys on an undesirable basis are considered.
