The book is dedicated to the wooden architecture of the city of Orel in the 19th-20th centuries. It tells in an accessible form about what are the main features of the Oryol wooden houses and their various details. Much attention is paid to how the carved decoration of the wooden buildings of Orel was influenced by the architectural styles of classicism, eclecticism and art nouveau. The author also considers carved motifs and ornaments characteristic of Oryol house carving.
