Darcy and Wickham meet beside the Thames one dark winter's night.Wickham finally agrees to marry Lydia Bennet and, as a last insult, invites Darcy to the wedding. Darcy does attend but no wedding takes place, for the groom is found dead in the river.Investigations begin, conducted by the wily Inspector Parker. He interviews Mr Bennet and then rides to Pemberley to speak to Darcy.Lizzy realises that Darcy's letter, written after his disastrous proposal, may show motive for the killing of Wickham.Reluctantly, she travels to London with her father, intending to divulge the letter to Inspector Parker. She hopes however, to help in clearing Darcy's name.In the meantime, Mr and Mrs May have moved into a house near Longbourn. They have two handsome, unmarried sons. Mrs Bennet is eager for her husband to return from London and invite them to dinner.However, complications arise and the stay in London is longer than expected...This is an affectionate variation on Jane Austen's beloved novel following the travails of Mr Darcy and Lizzy Bennet.
