The dictionary in a popular form reveals the origin and meaning of more than 1,500 surnames. The main, dictionary, part is preceded by a preface that introduces the reader in general terms to the history and principles of the formation of Russian surnames. In addition to its direct purpose, the dictionary serves to develop interest in the study of the Russian language, expands the knowledge of Russian vocabulary, and at the same time the history and geography of our Motherland.
