Ivan Andreevich Krylov was born in Moscow on February 2 (13), 1769 in the family of a modest army officer. His father, lieutenant of the Orenburg dragoon regiment, Andrei Prokhorovich Krylov, was not a nobleman and was called in all official documents: "from chief officer children." Until 1785, the children of officers who did not have either estates or estates and were not recorded in any of the provinces in genealogy books were called chief officers' children and did not enjoy noble rights. Therefore, his son I. A. Krylov was not a nobleman.
