Dace Kelly is three years into an eight year sentence at the Canyon City penitentiary when the warden offers him a deal to get him released. The he must help the warden's sister save her ranch outside Tolerance, Colorado. He and Professor (a wannabe newsman who is also being released) ride there together. Problems are aplenty. The warden's sister does not want Dace around her ranch, a gunman is eager to test his skill against Dace and a powerful rancher is after the lady's ranch. Mix in an assailant who intends to see the Professor dead and it all adds up to a single conclusion ... Dace would have been a whole lot safer staying in prison.
