Schleiermacher's personality and views are little known among us. This book introduces the reader to one of the largest figures of that German spiritual movement of the late 18th and early 19th centuries, which is called the "romantic school." And - perhaps the most remarkable thing - Friedrich Schleiermacher was, it seems, the only thinker of this era, whose ideas have continuously influenced and continue to influence German thought.
