The book of the English scientist is devoted to the youngest field of experimental astrophysics - gamma astronomy, whose successes are closely related to the achievements of space technology. The book briefly but quite fully describes the processes of generation and absorption of gamma radiation, methods of its registration, principles of detector arrangement. Various sources of cosmic gamma radiation are successively considered Sun, Galaxy, extragalactic sources. Preliminary interpretation of observation results is given.
