Splines are called natural, which are a solution to variation problems of a special form. Such splines are used to approximate surfaces and when it is necessary to investigate the spatial variability of the studied properties. The paper outlines the foundations of the theory of interpolation and smoothing by natural splines of many variables, as well as numerical methods for constructing splines on a computer.
