Are you looking for your next favorite sci-fi series? Book three, Curie, is available now. Book four, Division, will be available for Kindle and paperback in 2019.Interview with the Did you intend Adaline to feel so like the classic works Brave New World and The Giver? I have a confession to make. I'd never read anything by Lois Lowry or Aldous Huxley until I was writing Curie, the third book of the Adaline series. I'd heard that there were many similarities between my take on Adaline's A.I. driven lifestyle and the tightly controlled societies in both these books, and eventually I heard from readers about it enough that I binge-read both novels in a weekend. Although the stories are vastly different, the undertone of one person standing against the insurmountable force of social pressure is undeniable. How many books will be in the Adaline series? Long ago, Adaline was going to be a single stand-alone book. Fortunately for me, people enjoyed reading it and I was encouraged to expand on the world and interpret 62's dreams to see where they'd lead. The story was expanded to a trilogy with the additions of Biocide and then Curie, but I found at the end of Curie there was still more story to tell. Now, it's five books with the addition of Division and Equals . And then, that's it. Five. Did you title your series in alphabetical order on purpose? The titles of the Adaline books has been a secret indulgence in the series. They all come from terms used in math and science. Writing a literary story in a STEM universe has been challenging and so enjoyable. But yes, to answer your question, I arranged them to be alphabetical because I'm terrible at remembering the order of things. So, if you ever wonder, the books are ordered Adaline, Biocide, Curie, Division, and finally, Equals. Did you know there was a secret society when you first wrote Adaline? Or did that come later, as you were planning Biocide? I've known that the Adaline series was an alternate history since the very beginning, and as a part of that knew, there was a secret class of citizen in the world. Originally, I didn't think anyone else would find the backstory of the Adaline world that interesting, which is why I'd only planned to write one book. But over and over again I was contacted by people who wanted to know more. If there's ever a fictional world you love, don't be afraid to reach out to the author. I can honestly say, most of this story wouldn't have been told if it wasn't for the enthusiasm of my readers.Still not sure this is the book for you? More than 10,000 readers have downloaded Adaline. That many people can't be wrong.
