The monograph is devoted to one of the most important problems of applied linguistics - the transfer of foreign texts into Russian. The ratio of alphabetical writing, practical transcription and transliteration in languages ​ ​ of different types is analyzed, the history of borrowing words and the improvement of methods for writing them are shown. Particular attention is paid to the development of these processes in the Russian language.
