The biography of Leo Nikolaevich Tolstoy was conceived by a well-known specialist in foreign literature, Professor A.M. Zverev (1939-2003) many years ago. He perceived Tolstoy's works and his philosophical views in much the same way as was customary in Soviet literary criticism - in a sense, in a writer's way, more widely and polemically in comparison with the predecessors-researchers of the work of Russian genius. A.M. Zverev did not have time to complete his work. Tolstoy's biography was added by the famous literary critic V. A. Tunimanov (1937-2006), with whom A. M. Zvereva had many years of creative and personal friendship. But V. A. Tunimanov, unfortunately, was not destined to live to see its release. In this book, the reader will meet with an unusual, unconventional idea of Tolstoy's phenomenal personality, left to us as a legacy by two wonderful literary scholars.
