Warsaw under German occupation, World War I is underway. Pushed far east, the Russian army prepares for a counteroffensive, and Rudnitsky receives an offer from the Germans, which he cannot refuse. By avoiding interference in politics, the alchemist is unwittingly drawn into a game in which life and more is at stake. Meanwhile, creatures that bear the names of fallen angels appear in the enclaves. The roads of Rudnitsky and Samarin cross again, but this time each of them fights under a different flag.
