Reflections on Violence is the most famous work of the French philosopher and sociologist Georges Sorel (1847-1922), in which the author, a theorist of revolutionary syndicalism, puts forward the concept of the myth of a general strike as a collective mobilizing representation that can become the basis of revolutionary transformations. The only translation of the book into Russian was made in 1907. This edition includes a new edition of this translation, an author's preface not previously published in Russian and additional chapters written for later French editions of the book, letters from the author addressed to the publisher and one of the readers, as well as an introductory article by historian Jacques Juliar.
