The theory of train traction and methods of traction calculations for electric and diesel traction are presented, basic information on traction tests of locomotives is given, and issues of locomotive and motor-car rolling stock control are considered. In order to assimilate the theoretical material, examples are given. A methodology for preparing information for solving train traction problems on digital computers is outlined.
