Russia during the reign of Emperor Nicholas I (1825-1855) and France during the reign of the constitutional king Louis Philippe of Orleans (1830-1848). This was a period of sharp restriction of contacts, which was caused by the negative attitude of the Russian autocrat towards the regime born of the revolution. However, despite the tough confrontation, sometimes on the verge of confrontation, there was constant interaction between our countries. This was the first experience of the complex and contradictory relationship between the Russian autocracy and French liberalism.
