The monograph is devoted to the foundations of the theory of diffraction in application to the problems of mechanics and acoustics. The necessary information from mathematical analysis and theory of wave processes is given. Problems of diffraction in unlimited medium, on rectilinear scatterers, in layer of constant thickness are considered.
