Luftwaffe field divisions arose out of personal and intra-party rivalry between the top leaders of the Nazi state and, especially, due to the hostility that the German officer corps with its traditions had to the upstarts of the new regime. These units brought some benefit as rapid reaction units in the winter of 194142 in Russia. But they could not replace regular army units. So the ground formations of the Air Force, although they had a large number of very good soldiers, were actually sacrificed in the name of self-love, personal ambitions and interdepartmental rivalry. K. Raffner's book examines in detail the changes that have occurred in the ground units of the German Air Force. The text is accompanied by unique photographs. Color illustrations are prepared on the basis of wartime documents and give an accurate idea of the uniform of military personnel of the Luftwaffe field divisions. The book is addressed to a wide range of readers who are fond of the history of the army and military uniforms.
