The issues of the theory of calculation and design of aircraft air-jet engines (VRD) and gas turbine power plants (GTU) created on their basis are presented. Analysis of thermodynamic cycles is given, characteristics and operational features of engines are considered. The third edition (2nd edition - "Theory and calculation of air-jet engines" under the editorship of S.M. Shlyakhtenko - published by the publishing house "Mashinostroenie," 1987) contains new sections on stationary GTU, supersonic and hypersonic ramjet engines, as well as on ecology. Revised and expanded sections on input and output devices of VRD, theory and calculation of double-circuit and combined engines.
