There are still people who remember punched cards - rectangular punched cards with which data was entered into computers. The work examines the entire path of punched cards from their birth in the early eighteenth century to the end of their use in the late twentieth. The line of struggle between Hollerith and Powers cars, as well as their French and Soviet competitors, can be traced. Particular attention is paid to IBM, the flagship of punch card technology.
