Dragoon cavalry can be called a descendant of the Dimahos of the great Alexander the Great. Since 1700, dragoons became the basis of the Russian regular cavalry, and since that time it was on them that the whole burden of cavalry service lay. They went in the vanguard and in the rearguard, went on the attack and scouted the area, patrolled and guarded the bivouacs. These were true "labor wars," which, like the infantry, formed the backbone of the Russian army.
