Culturologist and museologist Ksenia Surikova explores the phenomenon of the museum through the prism of architecture and proposes to consider it in the broad context of cultural transformations that influenced the role and functions of the museum in society. Consistently examining the peculiarities of the museum's existence in various historical periods, the author shows how, depending on the strategies of attitude to the past, the perception of the museum subject and museum function changed, and therefore the typology of the museum building was built or destroyed.
