The book of historians from Uzbekistan for the first time in Russian gives a broad picture of the cultural, economic and political presence of the Tatars in Turkestan at the beginning of the twentieth century, highlights the role of the Tatars in the socio-political and spiritual and educational life of Turkestan. The book is based on a wide range of sources inaccessible to the Russian reader in the Uzbek language, including rare archival materials.
