The book discusses the use of highly sensitive television systems for terrestrial astronomy. The features of television installations designed both for obtaining direct images of the sky and for registering the spectra of celestial objects are analyzed in detail. Much attention is paid to the use of the television method to search for and study objects with ultra-short-period changes in brightness. The method of photometric processing of television images of stars and planets is described and the accuracy of measuring their brightness is evaluated.
