Arthur Drews (1865-1935) - German philosopher, writer, student of N. Hartmann, along with B. Bauer, A. Kalthof and others belongs to famous German polemicists who deny the reality of the existence of Jesus Christ in history. The first part of the work examines the course of development of the Jewish faith in the savior messiah, its merger with the Hellenistic idea of ​ ​ the "logos" - the divine "word," "mediator," the resulting broad sectarian movement among the Jewish people, the appearance of the secret cult of Jesus, under whose name the messiah spoke, the origin and meaning of the "stories" of the birth, baptism and death of the messiah, the symbolism of his cult. In the second part, the true nature of the gospel hero is revealed and objections to the denial of the historicity of Jesus are sorted out.
