The first issue was edited by V.N. Maikov with the participation of M.V. Petrashevsky (included words from "A" to "Mariott's pipe"), the second - Petrashevsky himself. The content of the second issue was politically sharpened to a greater extent. In May 1846, the publication was discontinued by the government. Censorship delayed the publication of the book, then, by order of the Minister of Education S. S. Uvarov, it was seized. In subsequent years, both issues were withdrawn from sale and burned by the police. The book is a valuable source for studying the practice of compiling dictionaries in the middle of the XIX century.
