Every combatant of the Red Army does not interfere with getting acquainted with the modern German machine-gun doctrine, the exponent and popularizer of which, by all indications, is von Merkats, a recognized authority in machine-gun business in Germany. Indeed, everything that von Merkats reports about the organization, tactics and equipment of the combat use of heavy and light machine guns in the German army is very interesting for us. Firstly, already because during the World War this army has once again proved to the whole world its unchanging high competence in all branches of military art, and secondly, because the production of machine-gun business in Germany developed in an original way during the war and in many ways differs from its production in other countries, where the French doctrine dominates.
