This book is the result of many years of work by the author devoted to the problems of Dutch painting of the 17th century (the monograph by Yu. A. Tarasov "Dutch landscape of the 17th century" was published in 1983). The study of the main stages of each type of Dutch still life (floral still life, "laid tables," "breakfasts," "vanity of vanities," etc.) is accompanied by information about the life and work of the masters of this genre. Numerous works stored in both domestic and foreign museums, including private collections, are analyzed, the attributions made by the author are of particular value.
