Theory of atomic particle motion under the action of resonance laser radiation pressure is presented and applications of resonance light pressure in experimental physics are considered. The basics of the theory of resonant light pressure are presented, the main relations for the radiation force acting on atomic particles in the field of resonant radiation are given, and the features of light pressure for fields of different space-time structure are considered. A sequential quantum statistical theory of the motion of atomic particles in resonant light fields is presented and the main experiments on controlling the motion of atoms and atomic ions by the pressure of laser radiation are indicated. Experimental studies of laser cooling of atomic beams and localized atomic ions are considered in detail. Applications of cold atoms and ions in atomic physics and spectroscopy are discussed.
