The monograph, based on a comprehensive analysis of written sources and material monuments, studies wooden Orthodox religious construction in Bukovina in the middle of the XIV - early XX centuries. For the first time, scientific ideas about the problem of mutual influences of folk traditions and church canons in the legal organization of the construction, maintenance, supply and protection of wooden religious buildings of Bukovina were concretized; analysis of the formation, Bukovinian wooden temples and the ratio of canonical and traditional folk in the formation and decoration of their sacred space was carried out.
