The collection publishes materials on the Stone, Bronze and Iron Ages of China. The Paleolithic and Mesolithic microlithic culture and the Neolithic pottery of the Shandong Peninsula are investigated; the chronology of the Yin monuments of Anyang and the relationship of bronze products of the Shan culture with the "northern bronze" are analyzed. A significant place is occupied by the problems of studying military affairs from the standpoint of archeology. In particular, reconstructions of the Yin defensive weapons and tactics of the army of this period are proposed. A generalizing sketch of the organization of military affairs in Han times is given. Also published are materials from excavations of the Xiongnu burial ground in the PRC and their interpretation in relation to Siberian and Central Asian materials.
