The selected works of academician Yakov Borisovich Zeldovich include works on nuclear physics, elementary particle physics and astrophysics. In all these areas, Y. B. Zeldovich owns first-class results, which laid the foundation for new directions. Nuclear power is based on the principles set forth in his outstanding articles (together with Yu. B. Khariton) on uranium fission. In elementary particle physics, it is enough to mention the fundamental work on the preservation of vector current at? -fission. Since the beginning of the 60s, astrophysical problems have been at the center of Y. B. Zeldovich's interests. His work formed the basis of a new field of science - relativistic astrophysics. He investigated the processes of interaction between matter and radiation in the early stages of the expansion of the hot Universe. He predicted the existence of primary black holes. In stellar astrophysics, his work on physical processes in the vicinity of black holes is fundamental. Ya. B. Zeldovich created the theory of the formation of a large-scale structure of the Universe.
