Panteleimon Kulish (1819-1897) - writer, poet, collector of folklore, ethnographer. He was known as the first translator of the Bible into the Ukrainian language, a literary critic, publisher and editor, as well as the author of the "Kulishovka" - one of the early variants of the Ukrainian alphabet. "The History of the Reunification of Russia" is a three-volume work written in 1874. It is dedicated to the relationship between Ukraine and Russia for several centuries. The Ukrainian public was sincerely outraged by this work: Kulish denied the value of national liberation movements, attached missionary importance to the Polyatsiya and Russification of Ukraine. The work is interesting as an alternative view of Ukrainian history, a milestone in the study of the biography of P. Kulish, a patriot of his land, forced to yield to pressure from the imperial public. Soon after the work came out, he became disillusioned with Moskvofilstvo and retired to live in the village.
