Baracta watched the body jerk then convulse without a vestige of feeling, every now and then consulting his watch to time how long it took. After one and a half minutes, by his reckoning it was all over. Another bitch had got her just deserts. Suddenly he felt deathly tired, drained of all feeling. Shutting and locking the door behind him, he stumbled up the stairs, clicked the secret panel back into place and went home o bed, on the whole it had been a successful night. Baracta is a well-respected shopkeeper in a small town. No one would suspect he had a dark secret. That is, until a series of unfortunate events unfold, the voices return and Baracta is pushed to his very limits. The town is shocked to discover a serial killer in their midst, and the hunt for the guilty begins. With his wife's lover in the frame for the murders, Baracta forms a plan to rid him of his wife and land him the pretty shop assistant as a prize. Someone is watching him and knows the truth. But can he be stopped in time? About the Author Augustine Nash was born in a small village in Herefordshire, England, in 1937. At the age of 16 she met and married; by the age of 19 she'd had three children. Augustine worked as a nurse for twenty four years and following her retirement she decided to fulfill her ambition to write novels. Since then she has been a prolific writer and her first book 'Shadow of the Eagle' was entered for the Booker Prize. Many of her books are based on her own experiences and memories of characters she has met in her life. Her husband was a serving officer in the Royal Air Force which meant moving every couple of years to military postings both in the U.K. and overseas. Sadly Augustine's husband died in 2008 after a marriage of fifty four years. She is now housebound due to a disability, so her writing has become even more important to her, and dedicates 4-6 hours each day writing and meticulously researching subject matter.
