The Livonian War occupies a special place in the history of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and its difficult relations with the Moscow state. The conflict over Livonia led to their direct clash and the resumption of the struggle for Russian lands. The famous Belarusian historian A.N. Yanushkevich tried to look at the events from a "Lithuanian" point of view, putting 1558-1570 at the center of the study, when the Grand Duchy of Lithuania opposed Moscow as a sovereign state. The truce of 1570 put an end to the military struggle of Vilna, fixing cardinal internal (union with Poland, the extinction of the Jagiell dynasty, kingless) and external changes.
