A new joint study of musicologists from the Russian State Pedagogical University named after Herzen (St. Petersburg) makes a significant contribution to the domestic "Bruckneriana." This monograph is devoted to solving the "Bruckner problem" (the scale of creative achievements in combination with "external provincialism"). In the context of pan-European cultural ties, trends in Goetheanism and philosophical esotericism, it examines the main musical genres of Bruckner's heritage (symphony and mass), studies the Bruckner symphonic concept, analyzes various editions of his symphonies and the features of their orchestration, traces historical parallels with the works of G. Wolf, J. Sibelius, D. Shostakovich, reviews Western European and domestic Brucknerology.
