In 1978, a book by V. A. Sadovnichy and A. S. Podkolzin was published, in which a large number of tasks of various student competitions were presented. Over the past time, the student olympiad movement in the USSR has received further development, a large number of olympiads and competitions for solving problems have taken place. In one form or another, most universities of the Soviet Union participate in the Student and Scientific and Technological Progress Olympiad.
