Teaching mathematics at school in the new conditions should provide a solid and conscious mastery of the basics of mathematical knowledge and instilling in students the ability to apply this knowledge to solving practical issues. One of the means of solving this problem is the use of historical information in arithmetic lessons, revealing to students the ways of emergence of arithmetic concepts from human labor activity and determining the place of mathematics in the history of culture.
