This book is a classic psychoanalytic study designed to fill the gap in psychoanalytic theory regarding the formation and development of the mental structure of Ideal-I, first indicated, but not sufficiently conceptualized by Freud. Not only the peculiarities of content, the conditions of formation and development are investigated, but also the nature of Ideal-I's connections with other mental structures - I, It and Super-I. The role of the Ideal-I structure in various mental disorders is noted. The "Jane Eyre complex" described by the author is one example of Ideal-Ya pathology.
