On June 21, 1925, on the transatlantic ship Espagne, Mayakovsky departed from the port of Saint-Nazaire (France) to Mexico. The sea voyage ended on July 8 in the Mexican port of Vera Krutz. After a short stay in Mexico, the poet went to the border with the United States, where he managed to obtain an American tourist visa for 6 months on bail of $500.
