Though from Broad Street, Birmingham, Patsy Manning yearned for the high life from the off, heading to London to see what the capital had to offer, it was here, by pure chance, that he encountered the Krays.Whilst waiting on a London bridge close to the Kray's billiard hall in the Mile End Road, he asked a passer-by for directions. That man was indeed was Reggie Kray, from that day forward a friendship was cemented, one which lasted decades, both on the streets of the capital and within the confines of UK Prisons. Though an enforcer himself, Patsy wasn't immune from their ways, in one incident being violently punished by 'the firm' after fleecing the gangland godfathers of cash.He and Reg later served time together at Long Lartin Prison, crica. 1957. Patsy was serving time for a claw-hammer attack on a nightclub bouncer. Their friendship was bumpy to say the least, true and deep but ultimately tainted by Reggie's Paranoia and eventually taking a more serious turn.Patsy sadly passed away on Tuesday 11th October 2016 at Good Hope Hospital, Birmingham. As one of the few remaining links to London's thriving, 1960's underworld, many stories were thought to have died with him, under its strict code, though unbeknown to the wider world he left something behind, something which he never allowed to surface whilst alive, a manuscript entitled 'Get Behind Your Door', reference to the screws bellowing daily command during his 30 year on and off incarceration.
