The plot is based on historical facts related to the version of the laying of the mysterious military base of the German troops in Antarctica, the creation of the Fourth Reich there, referred to in the novel as Reich-Atlantis, which, according to some sources, still exists; and on the creation of "flying saucers" by German scientists. The creation of this Reich-Atlantis took place under the patronage of the Fuhrer's personal agent but on special instructions from Otto Skorzeny.
