In 1802, the work "Historical Image of Georgia in its Political, Church and Scientific State" by the prominent archaeographer Metropolitan Yevgeny (Bolkhovitinov) was published in order to acquaint readers with the history and culture of Georgia and justify the need for state unification of the two countries. Despite its modest scientific significance, the work was reflected in subsequent historiography and became an example of historical journalism at the beginning of the 19th century.
