While he was a fugitive from justice on a tax misdemeanor charge, author F. Tupper Saussy decided to investigate his adversary; i.e. the United States of America and, more specifically, his Jesuit-trained prosecutor. While he was avoiding his one-year sentence, he spent ten years researching the role that Roman Catholicism has played in the United States. What began as a personal inquiry blossomed into a full-scale reevaluation of our nation's early history.
