"The History of Pugachev" is a historical study of the great Russian poet, playwright, prose writer, creator of the modern Russian literary language Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin (1799-1837). It was written in 1833-1834. First published as a separate publication in 1834. The book "The History of Pugachev" was compiled by Pushkin based on genuine documents stored in the state archive and county archives, in the form of a historical essay on the events of the Peasant War of 1773-1775 led by Emelyan Pugachev. The work was not successful with readers, and most of the copies of the first edition remained unsold.
