The book offered to the reader is dedicated to the history of Aliyah Iraqi Jewry. Historical accuracy coexists in it with the freshness and immediacy of the perceptions of the participant in the events; extracts from archival documents lend credibility to almost implausible adventures. It is no coincidence that this book, published in Hebrew in 1985, soon became a bestseller, was staged on the radio, and then translated into English. We hope that now the Russian-speaking reader will read this book with interest, read it - and again be surprised at how similar the fate of Jews who grew up in countries far from each other is.
